They arrive at the eleventh hour, at a time when old rituals are losing their meaning and many doubt their purpose. Yet, as more and more people begin to question democracy and search for alternatives, the ancient machinery is set in motion once again.

Together with the audience, they resurrect a world of temples, olive trees, goat sacrifices, clumsy dances, and public speeches. They don't shy away from even the biggest clichés you can imagine.

What begins as a (pseudo)historical reenactment of a single day of the assembly, however, slowly transforms into something far more immediate. One careless speech. One collective decision. One exile. And suddenly, the polis must come face to face with the forces it has just banished beyond its walls.

Ochlos, Ochlos, Ochlos is a participatory theatrical fable that folds ancient mythology into contemporary politics. By restaging the Athenian ekklesia, the performance explores how the creation of a collective "we" simultaneously produces a new outside - those who remain beyond the border.
